These last 45 days have been some of the hardest and most healing times I’ve ever had arriving to lone star I was terrified ! Simply because getting treatment is a big deal I wasn’t sure of the company or community I would be throwing myself into but wow was it the best decision I’ve ever made. To begin the staff and nurses/psychiatrist were some of the most genuine people I’ve ever met it’s very rare you go to a mental health facility where the employees gentility care for the health of the clients and care deeply for their job. The employees themselves have been hands down the best part of this stay! They’ve allowed me to authentically express who I am while comforting me in ways that allowed me to be vulnerable with my faults which is such a big deal when it comes to healing! Secondly the facility itself is very nice and always clean and provided some of the best meals I’ve had thanks to the chef! The company’s leaders Jenifer and Brandon were the most open minded and helpful people ever they consistently listened to the clients and cared deeply about our input and ways the facility could be better! There was never a complaint of mine that went ignored which I am extremely grateful towards. If you’re having second thoughts on coming to lone star let me be the first to tell you JUST DO IT! This was by far the best treatment I’ve ever gotten and will hold this place very dearly to my heart ! Lone star became a home away from home and I will never forget the great hospitality and kindness lone star has provided me! They give you all the tools you need to be successful it’s just up to you to actually do the work! If I weren’t healed I’d happily do this treatment again but after just 1 stay I know I am ready to take on the world so to that I say thank you lonestarPosted on Google

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the team at Lonestar Mental Health. From the moment my son was admitted, I knew he was in a place where people genuinely cared about his well-being and recovery. A special thank you goes to Bess. She has been absolutely amazing throughout this entire journey. She consistently kept me informed about everything that was happening with my son, including updates on his medications, treatment progress, and overall well-being. Her communication, compassion, and professionalism gave me tremendous peace of mind during a very difficult time. The entire staff has been exceptional. They treated my son with kindness, respect, patience, and encouragement. They provided a variety of activities and therapeutic opportunities that helped him develop coping skills, build confidence, improve his mental health, and engage positively with others. It was wonderful to see him participating in activities that supported both his emotional growth and recovery. The team worked diligently to help my son reach the next level in his treatment and recovery journey. Their dedication, support, and commitment to his success made all the difference. They truly went above and beyond to ensure he had the tools and resources needed to move forward. As a parent, finding a facility that genuinely cares can be overwhelming, but I was so excited and grateful when I found Lonestar Mental Health. They exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend this program to any family looking for compassionate, professional, and effective mental health care for their loved one. Thank you, Bess, and thank you to the entire staff for the incredible work you do every day. You have made a lasting impact on my son’s life and on our family. ❤️Posted on Google

Just left the facility. I had a great experience. Nursing staff was on point, i tried giving them hell and they just showed me nothing but love and support. Techs were all super cool and understanding, through every step of the way. Therapists were really good and it was super beneficial, and case manager was on point from start to finish. Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to go seeking professional help in a safe and homestyle environment. Chef was also amazing, great food everyday. Thank you (cussing was involved with my healing, and the occasional slur. They handled it very well. De escelation of high intensity situations were also on point, by all staff)Posted on Google

I had a relative who was admitted to this facility. I was very uncertain of how this was going to help her immediate mental episode. As soon as she entered, she was taken care of in such a personal and professional manner. They were all very compassionate and respectful to her and her mental state. I am extremely grateful !Posted on Google

Eating disorders can be easy to hide, even from the people who care most. If several of the following feel familiar – in yourself or in someone close to you – it may be time to talk with a professional:
Thoughts about eating, weight, or appearance begin to crowd out work, relationships, and rest, taking up far more mental space than they once did.
Skipping meals, eating in secret, following rigid food rules, or feeling unable to stop once eating starts can all point to a deeper struggle.
Avoiding restaurants, family dinners, or social plans that involve food often reflects anxiety that has grown well beyond ordinary preference.
Seeing yourself very differently from how others describe you, or measuring your worth almost entirely by appearance, is a common and painful part of these conditions.
Persistent fatigue, dizziness, trouble concentrating, or other unexplained changes can surface when the body is not getting what it needs.
Guilt, irritability, or low mood that seems tied to eating can fuel the cycle and make reaching out feel even harder.
Every plan starts with a thorough assessment, because the right approach depends on the person in front of us. Care may take place in our 24/7 residential setting for those who need close support, or through our statewide virtual intensive outpatient program for clients who are ready for more independence. From there, treatment commonly draws on:
Private, one-on-one sessions with a licensed therapist create a judgment-free space to explore the roots of disordered eating and practice new responses.
CBT helps you notice and reshape the distorted thoughts about food, weight, and self-worth that keep an eating disorder in motion.
DBT builds practical skills for riding out intense emotions and urges, offering healthier alternatives when distress would otherwise take over.
Connecting with others who understand the experience firsthand eases isolation and shows that recovery happens with support, not in silence.
With your consent, we bring the people closest to you into the process so they can understand the condition and reinforce lasting change at home.
When depression, anxiety, or other co-occurring conditions are present, our providers may recommend medication to support the rest of your treatment.
Deciding where to seek help is a significant step. A few things set our approach to eating disorder care apart:
After a comprehensive assessment, we create a personalized treatment plan shaped by your history, your goals, and your day-to-day life rather than a generic formula.
Same-day admissions and around-the-clock confidential support mean you can reach us the moment you decide to act, not weeks down the road.
Our pet-friendly, stabilization-focused environment is designed to feel calm and grounding, so recovery can happen somewhere you are able to settle in.
We accept insurance and serve clients statewide through virtual care, with in-person treatment in Martindale and a dedicated teen treatment track for younger clients who need it.
Eating disorders rarely ease on their own, and the longer they go unaddressed, the more entrenched the patterns tend to become – which is exactly why reaching out early matters so much. Recovery is within reach at any age, for women and men alike, and our team is here whether you live near our Martindale campus or anywhere else in Texas. If these struggles sound familiar, in yourself or in someone you care about, including a teen who may be at risk, the next step is a simple one.
Visit our Contact Us page or call (737) 325-8600 to start a confidential conversation and ask how our admissions process can help you begin treatment quickly.
We provide care for a range of conditions, including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and other specified feeding or eating disorders. Because each one shows up differently, treatment always begins with an assessment so your plan reflects your own symptoms, history, and goals.
If thoughts about food, weight, or body image are interfering with your daily life, relationships, or peace of mind, that is a strong sign it is worth talking with a professional. You do not need to be in crisis to deserve support – reaching out early often makes recovery far more manageable.
Yes. Many clients across Texas take part through our virtual intensive outpatient program, which makes consistent, structured care possible from home. Those who need closer support may begin in a residential setting and step down to virtual care as they stabilize.
There is no single timeline, because recovery depends on the person – the type of eating disorder, how long it has been present, and any co-occurring conditions all shape the path. Your care team revisits your plan regularly and adjusts the level of support as you make progress.
Often, yes. Eating disorders frequently occur alongside conditions like depression and anxiety, and addressing them together tends to produce stronger, longer-lasting results. Our team looks at the whole picture rather than focusing on eating behaviors alone.
Looking for help? Lonestar Mental Health offers safe, supportive spaces for all Texas residents. Whether you’re starting your journey or continuing your progress, our compassionate team is here to guide you every step of the way.
